Signature Stalekracker Gut Hook Skinner Knife (Amber Handle)
The signature “Stalekracker Gut Hook Skinner” knife (Amber Handle) was designed by J.C. Provost in Laurel, MS. Jim is a professional knife maker and is a voting member of the Knifemakers’ Guild.
The blade is made of CPM154 stainless steel. After cutting out the blade, I heat treat myself. My heat treatment process guarantees the blade is strong and holds the edge. I tapered the tang for weight and balance. Then hollow ground the blade and place in a vibrating tank for the ceramic polish.
The handle types are “Amber American Standard” and “Natural ImiStag” jig bones. After shaping the handle, I sharpen the blade edge and gut hook. Lastly, I make the leather sheath.
